NERVOUS SYSTEM
The nervous system consists of organs that transmit and process all information that comes from the sense organs, allowing us to move, adapt to external environment and intellectual activities. But their role is not limited to that, also receives stimuli from all internal organs. The peripheral nervous system runs the body through nerves, receiving and transmitting stimuli to the central nervous system. This takes care to interpret these stimuli and act accordingly. Gives orders to the muscles and glands to fulfill their duties according to the needs of the body. The cells that make up the nervous system are called neurons. These cells are very sensitive and can not be reproduced. So are protected by the skull and spine.Parts of the nervous system .The brain is housed in the head, allows us to understand and reason. It has three parts: brain, cerebellum and medulla. Here are some facts about our nervous system.
- The brain is the most voluminous body can weigh 1200 to 1600 grams. It consists of two hemispheres (right and left) joined by nerve fibers. The outside is the cortex and is crossed by some wrinkles or convolutions. If certain parts of the brain injured, we can be deaf, blind, half his body motionless, slurred speech, etc.
- The cerebellum is a nerve center which is located beneath the brain and regulates the movement of the heart and respiration.
- The medulla is a thick nerve cord placed in the bottom of the brain. Communicates with the brain and spinal cord.
- The spinal cord is housed in the spine. It gives off the nerves that reach the rest of the body to drive the brain the impressions received and return the response of the corresponding body.
- The nerves are a cordoncitos nerve centers related to the various organs of the body.
